The Texas Gourd Society has an amazing line up of fine art gourds for the annual raffle - our main fund raiser.
We are delighted to offer the art of Nationally known, award winning artist, Bonnie Gibson for our 1st place raffle drawing this year.
HIDING OUT IN PLAIN SIGHT - by Bonnie Gibson
Bonnie is an incredibly talented artist and sought after teacher whose career spans nearly 40 years. She has a deep appreciation of the native cultures of the American Southwest. She is represented in several fine art galleries and has won multiple awards. Bonnie’s art is inspired by her love of nature and the Southwest.
This piece, Hiding Out In Plain Sight, is relief carved and painted. It is approximately 11 inches tall x 9 inches diameter with a retail value of $1,000.
It is hard to fully appreciate the level of detail and the nature of the art from a photo – even a very good one. The gourd will be on display at the Lone Star Festival in the Ways & Means booth.
See more of Bonnie's work at www.ArizonaGourds.com and pick up her book, Gourds with Southwestern Motifs, at Amazon. It's full of instructions and tips on creating gourd art.
But that's not all....! We will also draw a second and third place winner. Gourds are by Shelia Guidry and Roy Cavarretta, Master's Division artists with the Texas Gourd Society.
And there's more! There will be a silent auction for all kinds of items. Come by the Ways & Means booth to see what you can't live without.
There will also be a live auction of additional art gourds during the festival on Saturday. Watch for updates on the Lone Star Gourd Festival facebook page.
