our member's efforts and talents and purchase a booth at the Annual Gourd
Show and Sell in Austin in October.
We will also be donating money towards the
purchasing of Coloring Books to give to Jackie Cherico and the inner city
kids to help teach and inspire them to work with gourds.
Our own Patch will be working with the South
Plains Food Bank Kids Garden this summer in Lubbock. We want to educate
them on growing gourds and help them come up with some decorating plans in
order for them to sell their gourds as a money making project.
One of our major goals this year is to promote
the awareness of gourds as an artist's medium and to educate the public
on growing and decorating gourds. We are in the process of contacting
various businesses to help us promote gourd interest in the West Texas area.
We meet once a month in Lubbock and invite
anyone with an interest in growing, selling, or decorating gourds to join
us. For more information on meetings, please contact Sue at dhaberer@valornet.com.

Haberer P. O. Box 283, Levelland, TX 79336 ph: 806-894-1771 email: dhaberer@valornet.com UPDATE: JUNE 2004
Our first meeting was held June 13th in Lubbock in the home of Bill and Sharon Waters. John and Sharon Flewharty were kind enough to make a trip to Lubbock and help us get organized. We generated a lot of interest and excitement among people in west Texas - finally we have a patch in this area! As a group, we decided to meet the 2nd weekend of every month.
The July meeting will be held at my home in Levelland. Everyone enjoyed
bringing a decorated gourd to show and we would like to encourage that
at every meeting.
In July, we will also share tools that help with "gourding".
Anyone interested in meeting with us is welcome. I can be contacted
at haberer@nts-online.net
for more information.
