ABOUT THE ARTIST
A native of the Southwest, I have been influenced
by the designs and colors of the desert landscape. I began working
with gourds in 1994 and found that the 3rd dimension of the sloping surface
gave me a sense of pleasure that was lacking with any 2-dimensional art
work. I also enjoy the layering of textures utilizing organic and found
objects to produce one-of-a-kind pieces.
I have won numerous awards in area art shows and currently am represented
in several galleries and gift shops.
Other interests include reading, traveling, and volunteering for local
art and historical organizations, and currently serving on the board of
the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
Although not formally educated in the visual arts, I feel that if
the end result is pleasing to the viewer and conveys the spiritual intent
in my work, then my mission is accomplished.
